GeneFisher2
GeneFisher2 is a primer design tool available at BiBiServ with approximately 30.000 users per year.

Primer Design Programs usually require a DNA sequence for primer computation. Using GeneFisher2 there is a certain possibility to amplify a region of a gene even if the DNA composition of the target sequence is not available. GeneFisher can use sequences of closely related organisms to generate putative primers for that target.

The web application GeneFisher2 can deal with aminoacid- as well as with DNA-sequences in its calculation process. Genefisher2 is a pipeline of three different functions that come into account when submitting multiple aminoacid sequences.
  1. The first performed function is alignment calculation,
  2. the second is the backtranslation from aminoacids to nucleotides compared with consensus-sequence calculation.
  3. The final function is primer designing.
If GeneFisher2 gets a single DNA sequence the first steps are skipped and the primer design starts directly.
